The Meaning Of Life

Just a quick search on Google, Facebook, or your favorite social network with these keywords find your purpose or the meaning of life reveals how omnipresent and important this need is for us.

We want our lives to be meaningful and to serve a bigger goal. We are urged to achieve something remarkable and find the unique purpose of our existence.

When we can not be ourselves truly and show all our colors and talents, we can feel lost or demotivated. Oftentimes we know deep down inside that we have so much more to offer and then a change is needed to unlock our full potential.

Midlife Accelerates The Need For Purpose

Especially around midlife, this urge to have a more meaningful life is very prominent. This has been my experience too.

Where to start?

I derived meaning from raising my children, but now they have become independent individuals.

Mastering the engineering profession was also a source of purpose and accomplishment for quite some time. But now, I am noticing, I have changed. Do you notice this too?

I have come too to the realization that the very same work that once made me so proud, doesn’t bring me the satisfaction and fulfillment I long for.

I have changed. Maybe you have changed too…

Do you feel the urge to do something more meaningful, something closer to your soul, something that can have a profound impact on your environment and the people you love?

Why Searching For Meaning Is Important?

Meaning is a source of energy! It is that simple.

Without meaning, there is no reason to live, isn’t it?

We witness it all the time around us. When a person is pursuing his passion and has a clear goal, he is immersed in it and feels satisfied and fulfilled. His life has a meaning and therefore he is able to work hard, endure suffering and postpone immediate pleasure for this greater goal in the future.

This is why finding meaning is very important for all of us. This is why challenging the status quo is necessary if we want to discover new sources of life energy, enthusiasm, and last but not least happiness and joy.

And now comes the tricky part…

Meaning is not given to us instead, we need to create it. As the famous survivor of Auschwitz, the psychiatrist Viktor Frankl once said, it is Life that asks us what meaning we will give to it.

Finding meaning is not an easy task for most of us. I have been struggling with it for many years.

  • It requires gaining detailed self-knowledge, a willingness to be vulnerable, and embracing your weaknesses and fears.
  • It requires you to be creative and imagine a better future for yourself and your loved ones.
  • Finally, it requires your full commitment, discipline and resourcefulness to make it happen.

In my experience, it is very difficult to do this inner inquiry alone. You could get advice from a career coach, or psychologist or ask a friend to help you.

The Support Of The Community

After struggling for some time on my own, reading plenty of self-help and motivational books, I decided to join a group online and get some support in defining my best life, my purpose, and my dream.

This tribe of heart-centered people from all over the world who are committed to living life passionately was a big support for me. We shared insights covering all areas of life, from personal to professional, including health, wealth, leadership, and entrepreneurship. We helped each other set goals and hold each other accountable. It was hard work but very transformational and welcome!!!
